St John’s Weekly Bulletin – Sunday 11 March 2018

The Annual Meeting of St John’s Church will be held on Sunday 18 March at 3pm. Ahead of this meeting, we will need people to stand for election for the following positions:

two churchwardens, who have responsibility for the building and furniture of the church and who serve as the executive officers of the parish, including dealing with Work Health and Safety issues;

a missions secretary, who deals with the support of missionary agencies (and who serves as a member of parish council); and

five members of parish council. The first responsibility of parish council is to: assist the incumbent to lead the mission and ministry of the parish.

Please think carefully about the kind of people you would like to lead our mission and ministry. Our parish council is becoming a body which plans the mission and outreach of the church, and has focussed less on buildings and maintenance. We need people serving on parish council who are willing to plan, support and run the things that we believe God is calling us to.

Nomination forms are available at the front door of the church. If you believe that you know people who would serve the parish well in this way, please get their agreement and nominate them… and please attend the meeting on 18 March to elect them!

Blessings, Murray

This bulletin was emailed to members of the parish on Saturday 10 March 2018 – if you would like to join the Weekly Bulletin email list, please call the church office on 02 4927 5399 and we will happily arrange this.

Communion in homes and hospitals

One of the ministries that we love to offer here at St John’s is a service of Communion in people’s homes when they are unable to make it to church.

So if you aren’t able to make it to church – if you are in hospital, if you are temporarily housebound through physical illness, are suffering from depression, have mobility problems, whatever – we would love to come and share the Eucharist with you. It doesn’t need to be a long visit, but we are always happy to come.

Please contact Murray on 02 4927 5399 if you would like to be visited at home or in hospital, or if you know someone who would like a visit.

Supporting St John’s Church

We encourage members of St John’s to support the ministry of our parish by giving directly to the parish account, rather than bringing cash to church. If you can do this, our account details are:

BSB: 705-077
A/C: 00040401
Name: St John’s Anglican Church Newcastle

Thank you to all members of our parish who are able to support ministry in this way.
