St John’s Weekly Bulletin – Sunday 22 April 2018

The Annual Parish Fair will be held on Saturday 5 May 2018 from 9.30am-1.30pm!

Your assistance with the Fair would be very much appreciated. The Women’s Guild need help with the provision of goods for the various stalls and also help on the day.

Stalls include: Morning Tea, Raffle, Soup, Pickles and Jam, Handcraft, Books, BBQ, Trash and Treasure, pre loved toys, Sweets, Cakes, Fruit and Veg.

If you can help on any of these stalls please contact Jenny Walkom on 0419497392 or speak to any of the Guild members.

Lemons are needed to make lemon butter, also small to medium glass jars with lids to put the jams or pickles in. These can be left in the Hall kitchen on the back shelf.

The Soup stall at the Fair needs donations of soup. Containers will be available at the back of the Church, near the welcomes table and the Guild would love you to take a bundle, make some homemade soup put it in the containers and return them to the fridge in the Hall, labelled. They can be frozen if made now or fresh if made closer to the Fair (Saturday 5th May).

Why not start now, gathering up any old books for the book stall and second hand goods for the Trash & Treasure stall. They can be delivered downstairs in the Hall on Thursday 3 May after 3.30pm or Friday 4 May after 9am.

On Sunday 22 April, the Guild have Flyers that we would like to hand out to the Parishioners to help with putting these in letter boxes. One of the ministries we love to provide here at St John’s is providing parishioners with free exercise out in God’s good earth!

This bulletin was emailed to members of the parish on Friday 20 April 2018 – if you would like to join the Weekly Bulletin email list, please call the church office on 02 4927 5399 and we will happily arrange this.

Supporting St John’s Church

We encourage members of St John’s to support the ministry of our parish by giving directly to the parish account, rather than bringing cash to church. If you can do this, our account details are:

BSB: 705-077
A/C: 00040401
Name: St John’s Anglican Church Newcastle

Thank you to all members of our parish who are able to support ministry in this way.

A Big, Bold and Beautiful Trivia Night!

… and something for the lads…

May is turning out to be a busy month at St John’s… the Fair on the first Saturday, the TV Trivia night on the last Saturday… I imagine you are thinking: “If only there was something for men associated with St John’s in the middle of the month…”

Well, you are in luck! The Anglican Men’s Weekend is running from 18–20 May at Tahlee, about an hour north of Newcastle.

This year, Arthur Copeman will speak from Ecclesiastes with the theme “Living In the Real World”. There will be various talks from other guest speakers to encourage believers of all ages, as well as men still considering the claims of Jesus.

Bring a tent, stay in a cabin, or bring your campervan. The Tahlee site has affordable camping and cabins to suit all ages and budgets.

Booking form available at: http://www.anglicanmensweekend.com/

If you have any questions, just get in contact with Phil Ashley-Brown on 0417 416 546‬. He’d love to talk to you about what this is all about, and the amazing time people had last year!
