St John’s Weekly Bulletin – Sunday 6 May 2018

Well, it’s the weekend of the Annual Parish Fair, so a huge thank-you to everyone who has pulled together to make this possible again this year. Thanks to the women of the St John’s Guild who have organised, co-ordinated, advertised, cooked, sewed, created… and done everything else to lead us in making the Fair a success for 2018.

The proceeds of the Fair are going to support Mark’s ministry among us this year, so please come along and support this event with great generosity!

Blessings, Murray

This bulletin was emailed to members of the parish on Wednesday 2 May 2018 – if you would like to join the Weekly Bulletin email list, please call the church office on 02 4927 5399 and we will happily arrange this.

Upcoming in May

Two big events after the Fair this year are:

1. Anglican Mens’ Weekend The Anglican Men’s Weekend is running from 18–20 May at Tahlee, about an hour north of Newcastle.

This year, Arthur Copeman will speak from Ecclesiastes with the theme “Living In the Real World”. There will be various talks from other guest speakers to encourage believers of all ages, as well as men still considering the claims of Jesus.

Bring a tent, stay in a cabin, or bring your campervan. The Tahlee site has affordable camping and cabins to suit all ages and budgets.

Booking form available at: http://www.anglicanmensweekend.com/

If you have any questions, just get in contact with Phil Ashley-Brown on 0417 416 546‬. He’d love to talk to you about what this is all about, and the amazing time people had last year!

2. Big Bold & Beautiful Quiz Night Join us for the biggest night in television….the St John’s TV Trivia night!

Form a team of six friends or come on your own and join other members of the community for a night of fun on Saturday 26th May from 6pm to 8.30pm. Arrive from 5.30pm for a 6pm start and bring your own dinner or nibbles to dine on whilst answering questions about all your favorite shows!

Youth and KoG return

School holidays are almost over… and with that, we’re back to our fantastic primary- and high-shcool programmes on Friday evenings starting 4 May. KoG for primary school students at 4.30, and Youth for high school students at 7.30pm. Contact Rob rob@saintjohns.com.au or 0425 278 063‬ for more information.

Communion in homes and hospitals

One of the ministries that we love to offer here at St John’s is a service of Communion in people’s homes when they are unable to make it to church. So if you aren’t able to make it to church – if you are in hospital, if you are temporarily housebound through physical illness, are suffering from depression, have mobility problems, whatever – we would love to come and share the Eucharist with you. It doesn’t need to be a long visit, but we are always happy to come. Please contact Murray on 02 4927 5399 if you would like to be visited at home or in hospital, or if you know someone who would like a visit.
