St John’s Weekly Bulletin – Sunday 5 November 2017

On Sunday 5 November at our 9am and 10.45am services, we will be remembering our loved one who have died and gone before us into God’s heavenly kingdom. As part of both these services, we will lay flowers in their memory. Please bring some flowers to church on 5 November if you would like to take part in this way.

Blessings,

Murray

This bulletin was emailed to members of the parish on Wednesday 1 November 2017 – if you would like to join the Weekly Bulletin email list, please call the church office on 02 4927 5399 and we will happily arrange this.

Missing church on Sunday?

If you can’t make it to worship on the weekend, please don’t forget that we have alternatives during the week. On the first and third Monday evening of each month we have services with times for listening to God. The first Monday evening of each month we have a Healing Eucharist at 6pm, the third Monday of each month we offer a time of worship and Christian meditation.

If you can’t worship with us on Sunday, we would love to welcome you to worship with us on Monday or Thursday. The next meditation service is this coming Monday night. Please join us if you can.

“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.” Psalm 19.

Operation Christmas Child – deadline extended!

Thanks to everyone who returned their ‘Operation Christmas Child’ shoebox by last weekend. We’ve had news this week that the deadline has been extended!

So if you didn’t get your shoebox in by last weekend, don’t stress. We can accept extra boxes for a few weeks more so don’t despair, just bring them with you this Sunday.

Thanks again to everyone who supported this effort again in 2017!

Christmas Puddings

The Guild are selling Christmas puddings, $25.00 large and $5.00 small individual puddings. They are available after the 9.00 am service and before the 10:45 am service or you could email Jennifer Benson hdb@hotkey.net.au to make arrangements to collect a pudding. The sale of the puddings assists the parish.

St John’s Women’s Guild – first Monday of each month at 9.30am

St John’s Women’s Guild meets in the church hall at 9.30am on the first Monday of each month. The Guild is a group of women who support the ministry of our church by fundraising throughout the year. Last year, that fundraising supported General ministry, Youth ministry, Church restoration, the purchase of new equipment for the hall, and donations to our Mission target, the Samaritans and the Mission to Seafarers. New members are most welcome.

Communion in homes and hospitals

One of the ministries that we love to offer here at St John’s is a service of Communion in people’s homes when they are unable to make it to church.

So if you aren’t able to make it to church – if you are in hospital, if you are temporarily housebound through physical illness, are suffering from depression, have mobility problems, whatever – we would love to come and share the Eucharist with you. It doesn’t need to be a long visit, but we are always happy to come.

Please contact Murray on 02 4927 5399 if you would like to be visited at home or in hospital, or if you know someone who would like a visit.
